Which Tier Fits?
| Tier | Best when… | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Simple | One primary country of residence for the year; W-2 and/or straightforward foreign earned income; limited investment income; a small number of foreign accounts; no complex entities. | $2,500 |
| Medium complexity | Self-employment / 1099 clients across borders; Wyoming or foreign LLC questions; multiple foreign bank/brokerage accounts; crypto activity in-scope; FEIE + foreign tax credit mix; or several income types that need careful stacking. | $4,500 |
If intake shows the wrong tier, we re-scope before work starts — we do not trap you in a package that cannot cover the return.
Why Expats and Nomads Need Dedicated Prep
US persons remain worldwide taxpayers. Living in Mexico, Paraguay, Portugal, or bouncing between countries does not make the IRS disappear — it multiplies the forms: FEIE, FBAR, Form 8938, foreign tax credit, self-employment, and entity reporting.
Generic US online-tax software is built for domestic W-2 households. Expat and digital-nomad returns fail when software cannot place foreign housing, multi-currency income, or LLC filings correctly. This service is CPA-prepared work for that profile — not a DIY software license.

What You Receive
- Document checklist tailored to expat / nomad income
- CPA preparation of the US federal return for the contracted tax year
- Common expat schedules as applicable (e.g. Form 2555 FEIE, foreign tax credit paths)
- FBAR / account reporting coordination within the scope of your tier
- Review call or written Q&A before e-file / submission
- E-file or filing package when eligible and complete
What MLL Does
- Intake and tier confirmation (simple vs medium)
- Document collection and handoff to the US CPA partner
- Status updates through prep and filing
- Routing to related services if gaps appear (ITIN, FinCEN/BOI, Wyoming LLC cleanup, residency)
MLL is the concierge. Return preparation is performed by the US CPA. Complex multi-year or multi-entity work may require a custom quote beyond the two public tiers.
The Process
- Choose a tier — Simple ($2,500) or Medium ($4,500) via Stripe, or start with a US CPA Call if unsure.
- Intake — citizenship/status, tax year, countries lived, income types, entities, foreign accounts.
- Document package — W-2/1099, foreign income summaries, brokerage, crypto exports, prior return, extensions.
- Prep — CPA prepares the return; questions go through a single channel.
- Review & file — you approve; e-file or paper path as applicable.
Who This Service Is Not For
- Non-US persons with no US filing requirement — no citizenship, green card, US-source income, or US entity.
- Same-day emergency filings with zero documents — prep requires a complete package.
- Criminal tax or offshore concealment schemes — we only support compliant filings.
- Canadian departure returns only — see Canada Nomad CPA / Escape Canada paths.
- Strategy chat without a return — use the US CPA Call instead.
After You Purchase
- Stripe receipt + intake checklist within one business day.
- Document upload / secure handoff instructions.
- Tier confirmation (or re-scope if facts do not match the selected tier).
- CPA prep, review, and filing.
Important: Tax outcomes depend on complete facts and current law. Selecting a tier is an estimate until intake confirms scope. This is not a software DIY product and does not guarantee a refund or a particular tax result.
Ready to File Cleanly?
Pick Simple or Medium based on the table above — we confirm scope at intake before prep runs.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Simple and Medium?
Simple ($2,500) fits relatively clean foreign-earned-income or W-2 years with limited accounts. Medium ($4,500) covers self-employment, LLCs, multiple income types, crypto in-scope, or heavier foreign-account reporting. When in doubt, book a US CPA Call or choose Medium and we will re-scope if you are simpler than expected.
Does this include state returns?
Federal is the core package. Some states still claim former residents. If you need state returns, we confirm at intake and quote any add-on before work starts.
Is FBAR included?
Account reporting is coordinated within the tier scope. Large account counts or unusual structures may push you into Medium or a custom quote — we flag that at intake.
I already paid for a US CPA Call — does that count?
The call is a separate strategy SKU. It often clarifies which tier you need and reduces prep back-and-forth; it does not automatically include return preparation.
What if my situation is more complex than Medium?
Multi-year amended packages, multiple entities, or high-complexity crypto/partnership stacks may need a custom engagement. Pay Medium only if it roughly fits — otherwise book a call first and we will quote.
When should I start?
As soon as you have year-end figures or an extension. Expat packages take longer than domestic W-2 returns because foreign docs and FEIE support arrive late.
