Founded in 1879 and located on the banks of the Paraguay river, Formosa is the capital city of Argentina’s Formosa province. This is a part of Argentina that most tourists will never see. From Formosa you’re a 13 hr from Buenos Aires but only a 2.5 hour drive to Asuncion, Paraguay.

The city is a regional hub and the economy is heavily agriculture-weighted.

IS FORMOSA SAFE?

Yes, Formosa is perfectly safe. Formosa is a small city where people feel a sense of community. 

 

RENT AN APARTMENT IN FORMOSA

$200.00 is doable. Things are very cheap here in Formosa. You may have trouble finding an Airbnb or short term lease online. Perhaps book a hotel for a few days and walk around and find an apartment here on the ground.

While not quite as good as Corrientes or Rosario, Formosa definitely has a few decent bars. Formosa is a quiet town but the girls from here are very beautiful. There’s a few good restaurants in town, so expect a lot of steak and wine. 

Most activity happens near Plaza San Martín.
