A Few Of My Photos From Mexico City…And Some Big News

Short one today, fellas.

While organizing my computer, I found some old photos I took when I Lived In Mexico City.

I thought I’d share them with ya’ll.

I’ll provide some commentary for each photo.

Enjoy!

(…and check out this goddamn city if you haven’t already! It’s not to be missed).

San Angel. A place where old-money resides in Mexico City. Worth a look. Completely safe, but still an entirely Mexican vibe. Hardly any foreign tourists around there.

Ah, my old house! This is where I lived shortly after I arrived to Mexico City. Av. San Jerónimo. Close to Copilco Metro/UNAM.

On the way to the metrobus near Perisur, a mall in the south of Mexico City. I was seeing a girl from Tlaplan so I'd occasionally make the trip to her house. Pain in the ass to go down there. Not the first time logistics ever fucked-up a possible relationship for me.

Frida Kahlo Museum in Coyoacan. Personally, I think Frida Kahlo is wildly overrated (Diego Rivera is a true master). But she did have a cool house. Worth checking out.

I randomly ended up in Iztapalapa three times during my stay in Mexico City. The first was for the cross bearing ceremony pictured above, and the second and third were for parties. I didn't take any pictures of those.

By Bellas Artes in Centro. This is a funny one. I distinctly remember that I snapped this photo before a pretty wild night, but for the life of me I can't recall what I did or where I went (I assume it was somewhere in Centro). Maybe Foro Normandie .

Presidential Palace in Mexico City. Some say that the blueprints were mixed up with a prison in Argentina . So, perhaps there is a beautiful-looking prison in South America. Mexicans are left with this.

What’s The Big News?

And the big news I mentioned in the title?

I’m back in Mexico City!

Well, it’s big news for me…I don’t expect many of you to care too much!

Long story short, after a year and a half, my business partner and I have parted (amicably). There were a few commitments that I would have been required to make to grow the business and, for various reasons (namely not having much of a legal stake in the company), I wasn’t willing to make them.

I’ll leave it at that for now. But I’ll write about it soon. Or do a podcast.

Anyway, that’s where I’m at!

The plan is to base up here longterm. I’ll take a few trips a year – one or two to other Latin American countries and one or two back home to Canada – but for the most part, you’ll find in CDMX.

I’ll look into residency options here in the event that Mexico ever cracks down on the whole tourist visa thing.

But first I have to find a decent place to live. I’ll be focusing that search on Centro/Juarez.

One thing at a time.

So, if any of you fellas are in Mexico City and want to meet up, I’m up for it.

*And for anyone I didn’t get a chance to meet with in Lima, I apologize. That’s on me. And while I can’t say I’ll be in Peru anytime soon, if ya’ll are ever in Mexico City, let me know.

Feels good to be back.

Until next time,

Vance
