Located on the northern coast of Peru, Trujillo is the country’s third largest city. The city hosts very few tourists at any one time.
Trujillo is a 9 hour drive from Lima, so if you’re taking a bus you may consider stopping in Chimbote.

IS TRUJILLO SAFE?
A bit safer than Chiclayo, but theft is still an issue here. Don’t flash your cell phone around and don’t carry more cash than you need.

NIGHTLIFE IN TRUJILLO
6/10
Trujillo isn’t the best for nightlife. The biggest concentration of bars are in the center of the city, but options and quality are lacking for a city of its size. Although it’s said that it has the best nightlife options on the coast, I’d say Chiclayo is actually a better option…unless I’m missing something.
I recommend: Brothers Bar

FINAL THOUGHTS
More organized and more attractions than nearby Chiclayo. You also have Huanchaco nearby, which is a popular beach town. Check out Trujillo for a day or two if you’re planning to hit the beach, but I would not suggest this place for a long term stay. Peru offers many better travel options for tourists.
