Ibagué is yet another affordable destination. Like in Bucaramanga or Manizales, $300/month should be OK as a minimum budget for a monthly apartment rental.

IS IBAGUÉ A GOOD PLACE TO LIVE?

Yes, we consider Ibagué an underrated expat destination (Colombia has a lot of underrated expat destinations!). Although the city has over half a million people, it feels much smaller, it’s safe and within driving distance of Bogota. Although the town can seem sleepy compared to similar sized cities like Bucaramanga, it is a solid choice for an expat on a budget that wants a quiet life close to the city.
