Valparaiso, Chile.
Located on the Pacific coast of Central Chile, Valparaíso is a major port and educational centre for the country.
Bright, colorful houses and a thriving bohemian feel/culture. Some say the most colorful city in South America. It’s quite a pleasant city, the food is decent by Chilean standards and the nightlife is fairly strong for a city of only 300,000 or so.

Small but fun. Most bars and clubs are located around Plaza Anibal Pinto, near the ocean. You may want to head to Vina del Mar if you’re looking for a bit more action.
I recommend: La Cantera Bar. A great place to get a drink and listen to some good music.
SAFETY IN VALPARAISO, CHILE
Violent crime is not a problem, but theft is. You have a better chance of getting robbed or pickpocketed here than in either Santiago or Conception.
